Biodegradable Fibers

Reducing our carbon footprint.

We’re reducing our carbon footprint by using innovative biodegradable synthetic fibers made from 100% post-consumer recycled waste:

Grid State & Ecotone

In 2021, Luum proudly launched Grid State and Ecotone: multipurpose textiles made of 100% post-consumer recycled biodegradable polyester advancing the conversation around sustainability.

Not only does Ecotone and Grid State’s recycled, biodegradable fiber content lessen impact on the environment but it also provides more design solutions with its bleach-cleanable and multipurpose-use properties.

Biodegradable Fibers

How the science works in 4 steps below:

1.

Recycled polyester fibers are enhanced with a
bio-catalyst additive at the molecular level.

2.

At the end of the product’s usable life,
recycled polyester fibers are introduced
to the landfill.

3.

In the landfill’s anerobic environment,
the biocatalyst additive attracts
microorganisms that begin to break down
the polymer chain.

4.

After approximately 3.5 years, biodegradation
is complete and only naturally occurring
elements remain.
