Luum Textiles’ Future Tense
Wins Pair of NeoCon Awards

Latest Luum Textiles collection designed by Suzanne Tick wins two awards, including one of only six Editors’ Choice Awards - 26th June, 2019

Luum Textiles today announced that Future Tense, its latest collection designed by Suzanne Tick, was recognized with a pair of awards at NeoCon. The 51st edition of NeoCon – “the world’s leading platform and most important event of the year for the commercial design industry” – was held from June 10-12 at the Merchandise Mart in Chicago.

Future Tense was presented with a Best of NeoCon Editors’ Choice Award in the Textiles: Upholstery category sponsored by Contract magazine. The collection was also a Winner in the Metropolis Likes NeoCon Awards sponsored by Metropolis magazine. Future Tense was the recipient of one of only six Best of NeoCon Editors Choice Awards, and one of only 34 new NeoCon products to receive Metropolis Likes in the 2019 competition. In the HiP Awards sponsored by Interior Design magazine, Future Tense was an Honoree in the competition’s Workplace: Fabric + Textiles category.

“The presentation of one of only six Best of NeoCon Editors’ Choice Awards celebrating our new Future Tense collection is definitely one of the highlights of this year’s show,” said Dave White, Vice President of Luum Textiles. “It’s also an honor for us to be among the select few companies that Metropolis fêted with a Metropolis Likes NeoCon Awards. These awards pay tribute to the design and creative expertise of our Creative Director Suzanne Tick and her entire team.”

Future Tense harkens to past eras characterized by large graphic applications and the elevation of everyday materials. It harnesses the power of textiles to simultaneously define and shift our spatial perspective. The new fabrics are grounded in industrial design, celebrating advances in conscious manufacturing and sustainability. The expressive patterns and palettes are both bold and complex, reflecting the balance between harmony and discord. Each fabric requires a second look, encouraging interaction with the environment and promoting curiosity. Through questioning the tangible, we become more engaged with our surroundings. Future Tense comprises the upholstery fabrics Schema, Macrotweed, Color Fuse and Tilt Shift, in addition to the Actuate multi-purpose fabric.

Eighty-three awards were distributed in the Best of NeoCon 2019 competition of contract furnishing products during NeoCon. Eight Innovation Awards, six Editors’ Choice Awards and a Best of Competition Award were included in the 30th annual competition. There were entries in 42 product and furnishing categories in the competition, presented by Contract magazine, and sponsored by NeoCon and The McMorrow Reports Facility Management & Design Insights.
